Default It had to happen...

My Sky Broadband line has been up, whithout disconnecting for 24 Hours!

Thu, 2007-03-01 17:14:09 - Router start up
Thu, 2007-03-01 21:06:35 - LCP down.
Thu, 2007-03-01 21:06:43 - Initialize LCP.
Thu, 2007-03-01 21:06:43 - LCP is allowed to come up.
Thu, 2007-03-01 21:07:10 - CHAP authentication success

Fri, 2007-03-02 21:26:13 - Administrator login successful - IP:192.168.0.2

24Hours 21 Minutes 3 Seconds.

w00t.

I'm impressed. I think Sky have been investing in extra bandwidth e.t.c. because its running at
3.2Mbps in peak times.

& Earlier I was downloading from iTunes at 1.5Megabytes/Second.

Not bad for £10 a month across 100 year old copper wiring!

For those who don't know, Skys Broadband has been disastrous since launch, with constant disconnections and major slowdowns in the evenings...

A whole 24 hours? thats pathetic Sky. Im at the end of 6 miles of ratty old phone cable thats above ground and regularly gets hit by lightning.

Our 2.5meg connection stays up almost indefinitely - theres an odd disconnection every now and then but it always resyncs straight away.

As I'm sure you're tired of hearing, I have to reboot my router at least three times a day on average.

I'm glad someone's having a good time though.

I flashed the firmware and modified the srn manually. Probably had something to do with it 8)

I'll post a tutorial tomorrow.

Cool. Sounds interesting.

I've got a procedure to reflash with non-Sky firmware (i.e. original) and to extract the userid (mac code) and password, but I'm not keen to do this just yet, even though I can reflash the Sky firmware back. It involves aborting a flash and then attempting an emergency recovery procedure, which isn't foolproof.

The last thing I need is a toasted router to go with my **** connection :roflmao:

Don't worry - its perfectly safe! You do it by using the netgear utility. & if you do mess it up, you can do it again because there is a small amount of ROM that enables flashing even if the whole thing is corrupted, tutorial up in 10 minutes.
