Default 'Slight rise' in Virgin disconnections

Virgin Media has revealed that there has been a slight rise in customer disconnections since Sky's basic channels were withdrawn shortly after midnight on March 1.

The cable operator's chief executive told The Sunday Telegraph that a "percentage of customers" were "unhappy" at the departure of Sky One, but added that "we are saving at least 95% of them with retention deals".

Some Virgin Media customers have been revealing details of the deals they are being offered to stay with Virgin, with one user reporting a saving of over £20 per month.

The Telegraph report also indicated that Sky had received "hundreds" of installation bookings since March 1, with finance director Jeremy Darroch reporting "strong demand" for the broadcaster's "rescue package."
