The Biography Channel, the joint venture between BSkyB and A&E Networks, is to be rebranded as Bio from next month.

The change is to give the channel a contemporary look. To coincide with the revamp, the channel will be sporting a new logo. The channel hopes the move will better reflect the broader range of programmes on the channel, which include documentaries about classic Hollywood icons as well as reality series' such as 'The Simple Life'.

Head of marketing Michelle Danks said: "With a wider range of programming we felt that the old identity no longer reflected this change, or the growth of the channel from documentaries to entertainment, from classic to contemporary."
