Hi all,
Joined the forum a few days ago. Tons of useful advice thanx.... I have decided to take the plunge and stay away from the Sky TV route.
3 days ago I thought that you were all speaking in Klingon and my brain hurt from all the new terminology and equipment names..... But, a few days later... I'm getting there!!
So, I have a sky minidish on my house with the cable running into the lounge which was left by the last owner. There is no Digibox and I have only had freeview since moving in. I had already posted a question asking if I could use the existing Sky Cable and kindly received a reply as "Yes". As a beginner, I have looked into the Technomate TM1500 C+ as it seems to have a lot of positive reviews but where I am really struggling to understand things is when it comes to the dish brand, size, position and fixed versus motorized.... and the choice of LNB ??
If I use a good supplier, should they be able to make a package up for me based around the TM1500 or am I just looking for an easy way out of having to decide for myself?

Any help to stop me pulling what little hair I have left out would be very appreciated..............Thanx..

Welcome again remarkable. If you do a little bit more reading and decide on the gear for yourself based on some of Stick's good advice, you will find it far more rewarding.

You cant go far wrong as long as you stay with the brands recommended on here. Stay away fron the cheap kits sold by the supermarkets unless you want to go as cheap as possible. We have no connection with any makers or suppliers so our advice is based on what we know is good, not what makes the most profit.

Yes, excellent advice from Jim. The whole thing should be fun - selecting the bits and bobs and making sure they'll work together and do what you need.

Don't get stressed by it. As long as you run your final list by us before you splash the cash, we'll make sure you don't make any expensive mistakes

Deciding on your budget and having an idea about what you want to watch should be your first considerations.

Why not just start off with the dish you have? It'll allow you to get going.

Any receiver will work using the Sky dish, and there's nothing like having a receiver in front of you to dispel all the complexity fears and confusion. It also means that you can stagger your decision making!

The Technomate 1500CI+ Super is a very flexible box, and it will certainly keep you entertained for quite some time even if you decide to move on later. They resell very well too.
