I have two satellite recievers hooked up to 1 satellite. I used to have a BEV2700 and a Coolsat, and it seemed like the BEV2700 was getting it's signal through the Coolsat. Whenever the Coolsat was turned off, the BEV would get no signal. And some channels would only work on the BEV2700 if the oolsat was on that channel. So we went out and got a BEV3100 and now it seems like it's doing he same thing but backwards. The Coolsat is gettin it's reception through the BEV3100. I want help!

Its all to do with the tones and voltages used for switching.

A receiver can have one of 4 states:

horizontal low band
vertical low band
horizontal high band
vertical low band

The H/V sweitching is done with 13/18 volts (although I can never remember which way round it is) So if one receiver is looking for a channel that requires 18V, the other receiver cant switch to the other band, and never will.

Its the same with the hi low band switch. The high band requires a 22khz tone to send the lnb to high, and if the second receiver is looking for a low band signal of course it cant.

Buy a dual or quad outputuniversal lnb and run a separate cable to each receiver and all your problems will go away.

(This assumes you are in Europe where things are quite simple)

On the Coolsat I am getting reception from the satellite: '91.0W Nimiq 1,3'
And on the BEV: 'BellExpress Vu 91'

I'm quite sure that they're the same satellite, but you never know with a FTA Coolsat. I'll look for a Canadian forum, if I can't ge help here...

Well, the frequencies on that bird are quite tightly grouped so I guess that there's no band switching going on, and it's using left and right circular polarisation, but I don't know how that's switched on your LNB.

When you lose reception, do you always lose every transponder, or only some? If only some, is it only left-handed transponders or right-handed, or is there some other defining factor you can deduce?

You might be better off using some sort of priority switch rather than looping one receiver through to the other.

Can you get a screen grab of the LNB settings menu in the receiver(s), or a scan of the relevant page in the manual(s)?

I think that the Coolsat is very similar to a brand we have here - Technomate - but obviously with a completely different tuner. Which model of Coolsat receiver do you have?
