Default Diseqc 2.0

lo all,
My Diseqc switch has arrived but unfortunately I am having problems. Connecting my LNBs directly works fine, but when I connect through the switch I can only get the first satellite, with the other scannable but not viewable. I am using tt-media-center, which says about Diseqc 1.0& 1.2, but nothing about 2.0, which is what the switch is. Could this be the cause?

Thanks,
Steve

pardon me, I don't think the second LNB is scannable after all, I think it is showing the same "signal status", "quality", etc.

Most switches seem to be at at least version 2.0 now, but that's unlikely to be your problem. It's more likely to be an incompatibility with your LNBs. This seems to be real hit and miss, with some makes working and others not. Try switching the two LNBs round to the opposite ports, and make sure you're using ports 1 and 2 if it's a four-way.

I have a cheapo switch ('Astra 4-way') which is DiSEqC 2.0 and works with my three Invertos and one Invacom, whilst my receivers are all DiSEqC 1.2/1.3 (USALS).

I also experienced a diseqc switch problem today; port 3 is not working for some reason. It is definitely the port because when I switch LNBs around it is always the one on port 3 that fails to come up. I do not think it is the Switch itself that has a problem because I tried another Switch and still got exactly the same result. Thus, i've been wondering if it is some setting on the receiver but so far I haven't spotted anything out of place.

Off-topic; my tyre-assisted set-up is doing fine, thanks. In addition to 13E and 19E (of last week) one LNB is now on 28E (until I am able to get 26E) while the last was able to get 1W today --- except that is the one whose diseqc port is not cooperating so far. :?

Right, I have been doing some Google searching and come across a possible lifeline: my PC may not have adequate power to cause the DISEqC switching.

It was running off an old P4 shuttle PC with 220W power supply. I am installing windows on an older more efficient athlon with 250W PSU and hoping something will work. If not, I guess I can complain to the shop where I bought the switch, particularly because they sent a different product to that advertised.

Bigtree, what is stopping you getting 26? Why would you want that over 28?

I have 28E on a Sky dish; so no need for it on my DIY; I think 26E is difficult to get because of its proximity to both 23.5E and 28E; that's as much as I've gathered from reading around and from my experience that I keep getting 28E when searching for 26E; I hope to crack it one day.

It took me a while to get 26E - my motorised dish was out elevation-wise, but once I found it the signal came crashing in - so don't give up. Just pick a good strong transponder.

The last three hours setting up the athlon have been worthwhile - the switch is now working I guess it was a power problem afterall!

Will now be spending tomorrow evening getting the other two LNBs going :

Good spot. It's quite a big ask for an underpowered PC PSU
