Hi, I'm new to satellite and just got DirectTV installed. I have a great picture with my simple 19 inch color TV; however, I've noticed that when certain images appear on the screen, small pixels or small squares (same color as the TV image) appear occassionally with the image, usually only for a moment or so before the screen image changes and the pixels disappear.
Any idea what this is or how to correct it? |

Do you get any squeaking/cracking/popping noises on the audio at the same time?
Do you see this effect on all channels, or just some? Does it look like there's a general loss of detail in the picture, for example grass looks dull, flat and monotonal, with little 'texture'? If you get sound disturbance (and I'm only talking about digital reception here) like that mentioned accompanying the picture glitches, it's more than likely just slightly poor reception. That's probably caused, in turn, by poor dish alignment or something obstructing the dish face slightly. Maybe a dish that's too small for where you live. The lack of detail/flatness/slight blockiness effect could just be artifacts - the result of an over-compressed video stream. Providers do this so that they can fit more channels onto a single transponder. Even if there is no audio problem, I think the former is the more likely culprit. STICK
