Default Sky Quad LNB on a standard (non-Sky) dish

I'm thinking about getting a dish with a multi LNB bracket to enable reception of 13°E, 19.2°E and 28.2° on the one dish (while leaving open the possibility of 23.5°E at a later date if/when I get into HD and want the Euro 1080 channels).

At the moment I'm considering the Triax TD78 dish with a 20° bracket. I'll have to get some LNBs too, but what I want to know is if I can reuse my existing Sky Quad LNB as one of them. Does anyone know if there is a way of adapting it for the standard 40mm fitting?

Many thanks.

Davei

Dont bother - the Sky LNB's are designed for reception off oval dishes. They wont pick up the correct illumination if used with a round dish

Why not just leave the sky dish up and put the second dish up for the other satellites

Yes, it would make sense to leave the existing Sky dish up, but (and it would mean a very long story to explain this) that isn't really an option. The existing Sky minidish pointing at 28.2°E is on a neighbour's roof, and we now have new neighbours who are gradually ripping out and tearing down everything connected with their property! The Sky LNB I referred to is another one, currently in use on another minidish (which I rescued when we moved housed) pointing at 13°E. As it's perfectly serviceable, I wanted to save it. Ah, well...

You could probably bodge/hack it around, but it will probably never perform that well.

Give it a go - you have nothing to lose except an hour of your time

Thanks. I will give it a go - and then I'll buy a third LNB!

You may be lucky and prove the "experts" wrong You can never tell what will work at any one location until you try it.
