Default 'Global Warming Swindle' sparks debate

Ofcom and Channel 4 have received a mixed response over the documentary The Great Global Warming Swindle.

The film featured the views of scientists and green campaigners who rejected commonly held views outlined in the media and in Al Gore's film An Inconvenient Truth that carbon dioxide has caused global warming.

The compelling programme has so far provoked 144 complaints to Ofcom. Channel 4 said though it had received 758 calls and emails from viewers about the film, those in favour of the broadcast outnumbered complaints by six to one.

The show, which aired at 9pm last Thursday, attracted a healthy 2.5 million viewers and an 11.5% audience share.

Martin Durkin, who made the film, denied reports that featured scientist Carl Wunsch was duped into appearing in the documentary and criticized the BBC and Channel 4 News for "brainwashing the public" by taking a strong editorial line supporting the global warming theory.

Well.. if you can't win the argument then try to silence the opponent. Very typical for lefties/greenies.

I watched it last night on VM Teleport Replay It certainly pi**es on the bonfire of those who are certain that CO2 is the culprit

You can't argue with scientific evidence

Well thats my theory anyway

And nonel of the "scientific experts" can produce one single bit of evidence between them that carbon dioxide is the climate change culprit. All they keep saying is "of course its obvious, just look at the ice caps melting.

I am totally sick of namby pamby politicians wheeling out the 'global warming' clap trap. It is not global warming, it is climate change and that is something that happens all the time.

The actual problem is that the western world is using up too much of world resources and politicians are scare mongering as the only way they can see to cut back.

Why cant they be honest with us just once and appeal to the general public to cut back without all the lies.

My opinion is very similar to that of Greenpeace founder (forgot his name). Global Warming is an industry - many people are depending on it, making good money out of it, so there is no wonder that we are bombarded with hysterical 'the sky is falling!' type of propaganda. I was called racist, fashist and warmonger for merely suggesting that GW might not be caused my CO2 (never knew that GW is a 'race'!). There was some article (in Russian) saying that even Pluto and Neptun are warming because of Sun activities. And if that is true then why Earth should be different?

I'm also not convinced that it's Global Warming caused by our CO2 emissions. Ask me again in 11 years' time when we next have a decent summer!!

I don't see the Human race existing in 1000 years anyway, so it's all immaterial as far as I'm concerned. I'm sure we'll find numerous ways to wipe ourselves out before then.

looking at the geological records it is apparent that we are overdue an ice age, which in recent millennium at least have always been preceded by a sharp increase in global temperature. we're doomed i tell you, doomed!!

the mount st helens eruption alone pumped out as much green house nonsense in 30 minutes as all mankind does in 10 years, and that is a statistical fact. there again as we all know 74.3278% of statistics are made up on the spot :?

apologies to dads army and hignfy for the plagiarism

There'll be no ice age all the time we have road-gritters and this Labour government to protect us.

And that little pre-historic squirrel pre-occupied with his acorn. :mega:
