Default Re Paypal - Gav

Sorry to start a new thread as this is a reply to a post by Gav (for some reason the thread didn't give me the option to post a reply)

Has Paypal already charged your account? Is it too late to instruct your bank not to honour Paypal's charge back? How much do you mind withdrawing from Paypal?

Reason --- unless and until Paypal go to court and get a judgment against you, your name is not blacklisted and your credit rating is not affected; it simply remains a dispute. I don't know the exat amount involved but I will guess that it will be too small for Paypal to go to court.

Yes they might pass it to debt collectors but you simply throw any letters from those in the bin unless you want to challenge (and threaten legal actions against) those ones for harassment. The other thing Paypal might do is to terminate your account.

You might check the Web (google) and see if there is anything to learn from other people's circumstances that may be similar to yours. These 'tough' companies don't always win.

The original thread was closed to ensure it didn't become too emotional.

If it's kept factual, it's fine. It may help someone else to avoid some of the many pitfalls.

To be honest mate i would take a trip to Citezens Advise before you pay out anything, Failing that get the financial Ombudsmen involved.

The financial ombudsmen can basically force any financial institute that has an operation in this country to do what they tell them to do or face the consequences, To be honest most financial institutions will usually back down once the ombudsman gets involved

I have been fortunate that i had quite a lot of dealing in this area and came through it owing nothing. I managed to dispose of £32,000 worth of debt which i ran up in my early twenties, so you could say i know quite a bit of how financial institutes work. After going through a bankruptcy i don't take any sh!t from any finanancial institutes anymore. What money i earn is mine and i'll be fooked if i'm going to give it up to anybody without a fight

Failing that let the barstewards take you to court, it will more than likely get thrown out if you can prove that you were not breaking the law. If the police are happy not to take it any further it will 99% of the time get thrown out. PayPal probably won't even turn up in court so it will make it extremely easy for you to get it binned. You can then counter claim against them for loss of earnings etc etc

When i had my hour in court for my bankruptcy there was a case between some guy and the DVLA going on in the next court room. It got threw out because nobody from the DVLA could be arsed to turn up.

If you don't look into it mate they will screw you over. Don't let them win >

Paypal are so arrogant. But I'm really, really p155ed. I went to see my lawyers (some of the top in the UK), they said that they would be willing to do it all free of charge as they think the chances of me winning a court case are so high that they can claim costs from paypal (and believe me, these guys are NOT cheap ) so anyway, they said that not only will they go to court and stop paypal from taking my money, but they also said that they will sue them for harassment - £7000. I'd love to win.

8) 8) 8) :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

Go Me.... Go Meeee!!!

Got a letter today. All the debts have been cleared, I've been given £10,000 compensation, the people handling my case have been sacked &&& I am permanently banned from PayPal. The lawyers suggested me taking it further as the £10,000 is just an incentive for me not to sue their derrière. But I really can't be bothered :

I'm dancing around my room atm.

Looks like I'm going to buy a 5 Meter Motorised Dish now (!) (Or at least two toroidal dishes), Or I could by SES astra? or maybe I could by BskyB, or maybe virgin, or maybe both?
