Default no sound !!

Thanks for your help a few weeks ago. I've now installed a dish and got it lined up on Atlantic Bird 3. The signal strength/quality reads about 70% and the picture is ok, but no sound at all. I'm using an old portable TV linked to the receiver with an aerial cable because the TV has no scart socket. The TV sound works fine when used without the satellite set up, the receiver worked normally when I hooked it up into the existing system (on Astra 28). Any ideas? Is it a good idea to try another TV with a scart connection? By the way this is all kit that B&Q were selling a few weeks ago. Thanks again.

Have a look in the settings and make sure the output settings for the receiver are set to PAL-I

Depending on how it's identified in your receiver's menu, you will need to select the audio option for either PAL I (as Analoguesat says) or 6 MHz. This is because PAL I (as used in the UK, Eire, South Africa, etc.) separates vision and (analogue mono) sound by 6MHz (cf. PAL B/G which separates vision and sound by 5.5 MHz).
