I don't think anyone has answered my question... Sorry! If I buy a Japanese Dish and Reciever here in Japan and take it to the UK will it pick up Japanese Channels?

No Japanese channels are available direct from Japanese sats in Europe - Quoted by Analoguesat
The only Japanese channels that it will pick up will be the like of JSTV and anything else that may be transmitted to europe by the satellites serving the european region

I doubt very much that you will be able to pick up any of the direct Japanese broadcasts in the UK as we are well below the horizon of any of the satellites that serve Japan and surrounding areas.

The other thing to bare in mind is if you buy a receiver in Japan, will it operate with UK voltages.

I think you would get quite a nice firework display if you plugged a 100V Japanese box into a UK 240v socket :mega:

Sorry we couldn't have been of any more help

I don't know if the receiver will work. If you can post the technical specs then we could have a guess.

It may well be that the Japanese channels available from Europe are in a different format to Japanese 'domestic' channels.

Why would you want to take a chance? Price?

Absolutley not - nanochikin has given you the answer why not

I answered you in line 3 of post number 2 of this thread

"No Japanese channels are available direct from Japanese sats in Europe. There is one channel available off one of the European birds - JSTV - www.jstv.co.uk. Its NOT cheap to subscribe"
