just heard some idiot on the radio trying to convince everyone that the time is going to change tomorrow morning and that we have to "put our clocks forward" :?
what sort of fool would fall for that ![]() after all the only consequences would be to b*gger up everyones sleep pattern, of course it would help cause increased accident rates particularly on the roads to assist the under worked health service > >![]() late news flash, apparently it is not an april fool, it is merely an antiquated and unnecessary way to f*ck everyone off :-X

![]() There have been various ideas put forward to go on BST all year round or even go UTC +2 all year round - which would mean sunrise after 10am in Scotland in the winter.

you are absolutely correct and this is a perfect example for a non political reason why scotland should be treated differently to the rest of the "british" (for want of a better word) isles.
let us look at oslo in norway at 59.922n 10.7007e and ringasta on the shetlands at 59.9129n 1.3283e which both have about 6 hours of "daylight" in midwinter would it be fair for gudersleben in germany at 51.4814n 0.2637e to have to comply with the oslo time constraints, ignoring the obvious difference in legislatures, as we southern softies have to comply with the difficulties that are implicit with living at a more extreme latitude. the answer seems obvious to me that scotland should have and deal with its own time zone as it seems fit, it happens across the rest of europe and the world. i have no interest in entering the question of devolution, the fact is that there are differences between the daylight conditions at the extremes of this island that need to be addressed without inflicting the carnage that is currently inflicted on both ends of the island under the current arrangement from my purely selfish perspective i can see absolutely no reason why we in the south should put up with changing our clocks twice a year having said that, mine is a large glenmorangie

![]() Do you really want to put your clocks back (or is it forward?) at the Carter Bar when you are travelling up the A68?? (The most god forsaken, bleak, windswept location you can imagine! Ive got a photo of me somewhere standing on top of a snowdrift one foot either side the border fence! The views are pretty good on a nice day though) Its not going to happen realistically is it? The Union is too strong.

All very well for you softies in the South who get 10 months more summer than we do - but the Glenmorangie comes from Scotland so let everyone all over the world and beyond be greatful for the wonderful product of our miserable climate!! Remember, it will still be light in Scotland on 24th June around 11.30 p.m. (unless it's raining, of course, which it's likely to be!!)

I used to think that changing the clocks about was a particularly stupid thing to do, but I've changed my mind in recent years.
1) Having the extra light in the summer evenings is great. 2) Laughing at my wife twice a year as she's early/late for something or other - worth it's weight in gold. 3) Laughing at everyone who's trying to work out whether they've had an 'extra hour' of sleep or not - ![]() 4) Having a reason to synchronise and adjust every timepiece in my house (it would never get done otherwise). 5) Getting the same great effect as 'jet lag', but saving on the airport taxes. 6) Getting a free reminder that it's summertime (otherwise I'd never guess until about September). 7) Wetting myself laughing at the screams of the next door neighbour as she gets into a freezing cold shower, because she forgot to adjust the central heating timer. Hey, if it ain't broke - don't fix it! Anyway, time is relative - and that's just fine unless it's my mother-in-law 8)
