Default Polsat - English?

I'm still thinking about whether or not I'm gonna bother with a motorised setup still or even a multi-lnb dish, but anyway - just a quick question - does Polsat broadcast in English, can it be got cheaper than £249 for a year AND is it illegal to pay for foreign tv in the UK?

Many thanks,

Gav.

I was actually wondering about this.
Reports around this area are that a pub in South Lanarkshire was broadcasting Art, and Polsat on a Saturday afternoon for the last few years.
The Scottish Premier League started Court Proceedings and both parties settled out of court (a long drawn out affair).
The guy actually made a lot of money, as his boozer was packed every Saturday.
He tried to get support from other local boozers, but most shied away, for whatever reason. :?
I was also wondering if they could actually prove you didn't have an official card to receive packages like this?

Watching foreign subscription TV in your own home is one thing. A pub using one to show football is a completely different scenario and to be honest they are on a very sticky wicket. For starters the foreign subscription is almost certainly for residential purposes not commercial properties.

There are various court cases in progress, and until its finally sorted out one way or another any pub that uses say an ART card to show football has to be prepared for their day in court if they get caught.

Yep, but I wondered why it took the SPL to prosecute rather than the Law Enforcement Bodies or even Sly.
Money seems to be the issue as far as I'm concerned.
Seems that no charges stuck, and the guy removed the equipment without delay.
His defence was that he bought the equipment in good faith.
Only hearsay, but interesting to note just the same.
Different issue regarding other establishments using a home card for pub broadcasting IMO.

Okay, thanks - its a shame they don't do English imo, that would be a nice 'Sky Beating' package if it did :P

Sky own the rights to exclusively show the Premiership games in the UK. Both the buyer (Sky) and the seller (FA Premier League) of those rights have defined and agreed between themselves the games that are included within the sale, and they don't include the Sat 3PM kickoffs.

Nobody else has the right to show games in the UK - ART, DigitAlb and Nova included.

The situation is quite clear as far as I'm concerned. It may not be right, but there you go. Landlords would be stupid to get caught showing PL matches. Sky/FAPL will take persistent offenders to court and they will win. All the failed prosecutions in the last year or two have stalled on technicalities AFAIK, but Sky/FAPL will get smarter.

They aren't interested in individuals watching at home. The costs are too high, and the rewards too low.

Watch at home, and stay safe.
