Moteck SG-2100 Declination Angle?

I have installed a Triax TD88 dish, with a Moteck SG-2100 H - H motor.
I have followed the setup instructions supplied with the Triax Dish and the Moteck SG-2100 Motor, but so far have only found Hotbird satellite at 13E.

In the user manual (ref SG21-004 Ver.01) which came with the SG-2100 it refers to setting the Declination angle on the Dish scale as 30 Degrees - Declination angle.

However, I have also seen a Moteck SG-2100 pdf file which states the Angle of the Dish Scale should be set to
40 degrees - Declination Angle. And Several other SG-2100 motorised dish setup instructions also refer to the 40 degree - Declination Angle.

Which is correct and have Moteck redesigned the Mounting Tube Offset angle from 40 to 30 degrees or is the Documentation wrong.? also where should I measure the correct Dish Declination Angle?, at the Front of the Motor Mounting shaft, or across the top and bottom edges of the Dish??

Thanks for any answers which will assist with setting the Declination angle.

just received my sg2100 today and as with everything else the manual goes off target in translation from chinese to german to spanish to english

bit confused myself about the angle of the dangle thing but will swop any relevant info when i get a chance to absail down the chimney

in the meantime if you find out anything useful please share

ps i think the dish bracket angle of 30 degrees that you refer to is if you are on the equator, you need to check your latitude against the table in your manual for the dish angle

refering to the manual that came with my moteck motor

the motor elevation angle for 51n latitude = 39 degrees which will read 51 on the other side

dish elevation 22.6 degrees, declination angle 7.4

i found that the dish elevation is out on dishes so try around 23 degrees

The Moteck motors do indeed seem to come in two varieties - one requiring 30 degrees - declination angle and one 40 degrees - declination angle - so I would initially go with what your doco says.

I have the slightly older SG2100 (as opposed to the SG2100A) and it says 40 - declination, but in your case your calculation will look something like this:

30 - 7.42 (the declination angle for your latitude of 51.7 degrees) = 22.58

Therefore 22.58 degrees is the angle you should set on the dish scale of the Triax. Simple as that.

If you want to actually measure the angles yourself, then you can - but you'll need to take into account the motor elevation angle, the actual declination angle (by using a straight-edge against the top and bottom lips of the dish face) and the offset angle of the dish itself (from the manufacturers specs).

Unfortunately, I don't remember what the offset angle for the old TD88 is, but the new TDE88 is 26 degrees. The Triax website has nuked all the old doco now >
