The dreambox is (from what I've gathered) a monster to set up with Sky, and it doesn't always work properly.
Yes its good fun to setup, and it only doesn't work properly if its not set up correctly. I can view everything that the Sky card allows me to

Yeah, I switch my Sky card to the Dreambox from the digibox when I want to record something, and then swap it back when I'm done.

With Newcamd/betad, it's a breeze.

Lol, sounds good, I heard that you had to put the card in a digibox to get it to update or something... Will it still work when sky update encryption to NDS 3?

I've been looking at fitting a 1.0m dish as recommended above, but I found the following on the Scottish Executive site (http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Publicati...04/19231/35741) :-

Dwelling houses

3.35 Under Schedule 1 Part 1, Class 6 of the GPDO, the installation, alteration or replacement of a satellite antenna on a dwelling house is permitted (and therefore requires no application for planning permission) providing that:

there is no other satellite antenna on the dwelling house;
the size of the satellite antenna (excluding any projecting feed element) when measured in any dimension does not exceed 90 centimetres;
the highest part of any antenna to be installed on a dwelling house is no higher than the highest part of the roof on which it is installed; or
the satellite antenna being installed in a conservation area or a national scenic area on any part of a dwelling house does not face on to a road.
Development is permitted by this class subject to the condition that the antenna shall, so far as practicable, be sited so as to minimise its effect on the external appearance of the building or structure on which it is installed.

So it looks like I'm limited to a 90cm dish  However there appears to be a "consultation on possible changes to planning regulations" in progress so things might change in the future. I won't hold my breath.
I'll try and get more info from my local council on Monday.
Are there any Scottish Forumites around with more info on this subject?

I'm Scottish but living in Wales...

You can apply for planning permission if you want the bigger dish...

Yeah, but I think I read the fee is £110 and I suppose it still wouldn't be guarunteed. I'll wait and see what the council say.

I'd just stick it up and hope that no one complains. Unless someone grasses you up to the council its unlikely that they will ever find out

The worst that can happen is that they can force you to take it down if they do discover it. If you complied its unlikely it would go any further
