Why don't you just buy one without an OS and load XP yourself? It'll be cheaper too.

Whats your budget?
Oh & if you order a laptop and it HAS to come with Vista, you can write to the company saying that you don't want to use it (Its in the Microsoft T&Cs) and they will refund you the money, buy XP and have a pint or two left over. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6144782.stm http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/98163/de...-ditch-xp.html

Transtec sell lappys with xp, vista, or no OS. Excellent company from my experience at work with their workstations and servers and I will be buying one of their 12" laptops when I next come around for an upgrade.
http://www.transtec.co.uk/GB/E/produ...notebooks.html Just click configure once you get under the "notebooks with microsoft operating system" bit |

I read an article recently where a research team tried to buy a PC (of some sort) with no operating system and found it bloody hard. They went to five of the largest companies (including HP, Dell etc.) and were told that while is was possible to buy one, not one of them could actually produce a machine for sale.
One of the companies did actually sell a desktop with Linux installed, but that was about it. It's absolutely right though, that you can demand a machine without an OS, although you might find it still comes with Windows of some sort loaded, and you have to remove it yourself : ![]() Microsoft have the big manufacturers by the goolies because of the huge 'discounts' they offer on MS OEM products.
