Its all about your data throughput, One 3Ghz P4 is better at decoding video than a Core Duo (Not Core 2 Duo) 2x 2Ghz chip.
I've tried High Def on a Core Duo laptop (2x2Ghz) and gave up and promptly went back to my 3.8Ghz P4 (Overclocked to 4.2Ghz)
