Alchemy, you don't say which satellite you are actually searching RTP on.
As you've got only a minidish,and I'm assuming its a zone 1(43cm) and not a zone 2 (60cm) minidish.
The easiest satellite to search for and find will be Astra1 at 19E.
RTP International on Astra 1 is on:
11567.50 V
22000
5/6
Make sure that the above frequency is stored in the receiver,if not add it manually according to the manual's instructions.
Also on same transponder is:
Canal Algérie
TV 5 Monde
Al Masriyah
Rai Uno
Tunis 7
Arte
Al Jazeera
TVE International
2M
Remember that lnb's position for Astra1 will be lower than the position for 28E,so you will have to lower the dish as well as move it sideways.
There are scales on both sides of the dish from 0-40,I think, you'll have to set itaccording to your longitude and latitude position(which you can find on multimap or streetmap).
Use the Astra dish installation,as its very easy to follow:http://www.ses-astra.com/consumer/az...p?locale=en_GB
Also move the dish, extremely slowly,mm by mm,wait for the receiver to catch up,as it it will take time for the receiver to register the signal readings.
It just takes great time of patience, believe me it took me 3 days, ops: to find Astra1 on a minidish, and I finally ended up finding it,just by waving the minidish out of a bedroom window.
If the weather allows it and if you've got a portable tv,take it and the receiver outside,it makes it far easier, than having to shout back and forth .
Good luck,and keep us posted

Thanks for the replies.

SAT-WORLD: I have indeed been searching Astra 1. As I've already mentioned, I'm an absolute newbie, hence I have no idea what those numbers mean. ops:

Wow...it sounds so complicated, I don't want to give up though. I've already encountered a glitch - I can't losen the nuts on my dish...

This is going to sound ridiculous, but I can't losen the nuts on the dish. Any tips? Which tools do you guys use? ops:

Have you tried spraying some wd40 on it? ( give it time to work its way in) Or you could try heating the nut.

WD40 worked very nicely, thanks.

I have the satellite completely unattached, and I'm moving it a round to see if the quality bar improves, it's not going anywhere though. ops:

I take it you, or an accomplice, can see the TV while you are moving the dish Alchemy?

Just make sure you move things very slowly, small movements can make a big difference with these things

Yeah, I have someone helping at present. I'm just about to make things easier by attaching the dish to the TV in my room, the dish is just outside my window. I'll keep you all posted...in fact, I guarantee that I will probably need more help.

I found RTP International!!!

I gave up with Astra, but managed to fing it on Hotbird.

I have one last question, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to a site that lists radio stations in Portugal and how I can find them.

Thanks so much to everyone who has helped.

Congratulations mate

I've had a quick scout about and managed to come up with this, it only shows on-line radio but it's a start

I'm afraid there appears to be only two Portugese radio stations on Hotbird.
RDPI and RDP Antena 1,both on 10723H
