Thanks for the link mship.

SAT-WORLD: Thanks, I just realised that I have RDPI, Antena is no where to be seen though. I can't really ask for much more, I'm very happy with what I've got. Well, there was one last thing to ask that will inevitably be very stupid, but I've read that it's possible to receive channels from more than one satellite at a time, have I read correctly? If so, how do I go about doing this?

It is possible but in your case the first thing you would need to do is change your dish for something a bit bigger, maybe 80cm something like that.

So you need to decide if that's an option for you before going any further

Basically you add more LNB's to your dish via a multi LNB bracket or a monoblock.

If you still fancy it then, once again, one of the guy's who has one of these set ups will be able to explain much better than me how it all works. I'm still a novice myself really

Edit: I've just checked and it seems you can get 13E and 19E together on a 60cm but it all depends which other Sat's your after :?

Thanks...sounds good.

I'm currently using Hotbird, and I would like to add 19.2, I suppose that would mean a dish upgrade?

Howdy mate.
You shouldn't need a bigger dish to receive both these birds.
I'm using a 64cm triax dish to receive both 19.2e and 13e up in jockland and get a great picture from both.
If you can swap out the lnb for a monobloc and your receiver uses diseqc (automatic switching between lnb's) then you've won a watch.
Plenty of threads on here about setting it up. (try typing monobloc in the search area on the main page)
If your already lined up on hotbird, then it should just be a case of installing the monobloc, and twisting it so that the second lnb is slightly higher in the sky, then peak the signal.
I bought my monobloc from fleabay for £20 including p&p so shouldn't be a lot of aggro for you
Hope this helps
Regards

Wow, great stuff! Thanks very much for the information, I'll look into it tomorrow; I've spent way too much time online today. Actually, I'll have a quick look ok that auction site right now.

Yes, sounds like a monobloc should give you what you want, and you should even get away with leaving your dish where it is

60cm is really as small as you can go for this, but as long as you accept that you may lose reception in heavy rain, then go for it.

Good stuff. An interesting thread

i think if my main interest was Portuguese channels
i would think very seriously about a 90 cm dish and
a tm 1000 receiver and point it at 30w. patch the
receiver and you will have all the portuguese and spanish
you want plus all the radio stations. these are a very good
receivers and at about £59 a great buy.

Yes, 30W is lit up like a Christmas tree ATM.

Firstly, thanks again for the contributions.

It's likely that I will want to receive channels from 30W pretty soon, but is 90cm really the bare minimum for the sat? As for the receiver, would I need something special? Would my cheap Fortec not work?

You should be able to do 30W on your 60cm dish OK, and yes, your Fortec does have a 'patch' available (although a little out of date), which may let you watch both Digital+ and TV CABO on Hispasat. You'll have to punch new keys in via the remote, but it may be worth you checking out the al7bar site here:

http://www.al7bar-soft1.com/index.php

then click FTA at the top, and then the button on the left for your receiver. There is some help on their forum, and we may be able to help guide you as well. It sounds scary, but really isn't that bad. You'll need to do some research yourself, and a lot of reading generally. You need to think of this as fun as opposed to hassle though.
