Default More problems......

Since formatting and then re-installing XP I've been unable to read my webmail >

I can login but all I get is a blank white screen. Spent half an hour on the phone to nildram to try and sort it but they now reckon it must be something at my end, which sounds reasonable as it was fine before re-installing windows.

So does anyone have any ideas what it could be? Everything else is fine, no problems with anything else internet wise :?

My mates gonna try and login from his pc, and the guy from nildram reckons he could login OK so I shouldn't have a problem.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Kev

Sounds browser-related. Are you using IE7?

Tried Firefox2? Definitely worth a look. Runs alongside IE, so you can switch between them anytime. Always useful to have two different browsers, even if only to test out little things like this.

Have you got Flash installed? You might need it for modern fancy webmail.

Tried both IE and Firefox Stick

Yes Gav, I've got flash installed as well :?

It's a bit of a pain really, although I've opened a hotmail account for now so all my mail gets forwarded to that.

I can't fathom it out, but saying that I'm not exactly a PC boffin so it could be something really simple that I've missed :

Cheers guy's,
Kev

Is the URL that produces the blank page before or after your actual login?

Can you post the URL so that we can test it?

Pipex used Horde, do you know if Nildram use it too?

Do you have any security software running? Can you turn it off?

Have you been through the many browser options to try and spot anything obvious?

I've heard of virus checkers preventing e-mails from being received. Try sending yourself an e-mail from hotmail to your regular one. Try sending it the other way. One might get through whilst the other doesn't. Sometimes the Virus Checker, be they Norton or other ones like AVG conflict with Windows Firewall - Just a thought. I have an older version of XP which gives me no trouble at all but some of the newer versions do produce bother when trying to manage e-mails.

I had the same problem when i was running Vista. For some reason my firewall wouldn't let Outlook connect to the mail server. It may be a similar problem :?

Check your firewall settings is what i would do first

I've tried it with both the firewall and AV (AVG) disabled with no luck

The e-mails must be getting through because they are all appearing in my hotmail account (which I'm getting them forwarded to ATM) :?

The URL is:

_http://webmail.nildram.net/msglist.php

This is after I've logged in.

No idea about Horde, the guy from nildram wasn't sure himself what nildram used to allow you to view your mail :?

He had me trying all sorts before he eventually gave it up as a bad job

Thanks for the help

Kev

I can get to the logon page ok. It appears to be powered by Uebimiau not Horde as first thought

Can't test it any further to be honest mate without the logon which obviously your going to keep to yourself :?

I would try e-mailing Eebimiau to see if they can shed any light on it. :?

(_http://www.uebimiau.org/contact.php)

Its more than likely a problem on Nildrams end IMHO. Its just easier for the ISP to try and blame any problems on the end user as most of their so called advisors couldn't tell their arse from their elbow, let alone tell you how to fix your webmail >
