Anyone know about this card?here is a link for it,& are thay any good?

looks like maplins have a card like ss2,i wonder what thay can do,can prog dvb be used with it,for a start.

Seems pretty similar to the skystar 2 to me Sid. Don't know whether its supported in progdvb though. Also noticed that if you scroll down the page you can get £25 off it. (if I have read it right)

The outputs on the card are totally different to the SS2, and it's overpriced IMO :?

Is there any particular attraction with this card?

I have to admit to not having studied the spec. for very long

It seems that Prog does support it (listed on the site) . The only difference is a few inputs that the SS2 doesn't have. If you don't have video in on your PC video card then I suppose it could be useful.

If I remember correctly, Scan is selling this card for roughly 40 quid (and they frequently put it to their 'TodayOnly' section where it goes for less than 35 quid.
The £25 discount at Maplins can not be applied to the card. Here is how it works:
Spend £50, get £3 off.

Here is a review.But skystar ss2 is the best in my opinion.

Strengths: Inexpensive, BDA Driver works in WinXP, Media Center and Vista 32Bit. Works with ProgDVB and MyTheater. Composite and SVideo inputs as well as remote control
Weaknesses: Signal quality varies alot, but quality seems OK. Included viewing program is kind of weak. You need a strong pc and better codec for smooth viewing.
Summary: This budget receiver does not work very well with the included software. But if you use ProgDVB (free) and the CyberLink PowerDVD or Nvida codec's it becomes a more enjoyable experience. The included software is hard to configure and not well documented, whereas there is a large community that uses ProgDVB and plenty of faqs. The card itself uses the Conexant 2388x chip so all decoding is done via software and is processor intensive that is why a good codec is needed. Signal quality seems to vary alot so aiming a sat may be diffcult with this card, but quality seems consistent. Over all for my needs this card works well.
