Hi,
I have recently replaced an old Sky dish with a Fortec 90cm. dish and a new LNB. We live in the wilds of Scotland Having positioned the dish for max Astra 2 signal (about twice the level that came from old dish). I can get some stations but not all, however if i put some attenuation in (temporarily a signal finder approx 3dB) I can receive most of what I want. Here's the funny - Because the signal finder has an earpiece which emits the audio signal I unplugged it with the result that I cannot get all the signals again. I have ordered some in line attenuators (noiseless!!) but in the meantime has anyone any helpful views. The loss of stations does not appear to be purely polarity related Question - Can there be too much signal (about 90% on the signal strength indicator) ? or is there a problem with the sensitivity of my Panasonic satellite receiver? Sorry for the non technical talk. Thanks Blodgett |

Hi blodgett, welcome to the forum
![]() I've never ever heard of this phenomenon before ops: other than where there is a fundamental incompatibility between the receiver and the LNB. This does happen on some of the Panasonics, but don't give quite the symptoms you're getting.Have a quick look at http://www.satcure.co.uk/filter.htm. Have you set the skew (twist) of the LNB correctly for 28.2E? This would involve rotating the LNB in the LNB clamp of the dish approximately 20 degrees clockwise when standing in front of the dish, and for a central UK location. Don't worry about your use of terminology ... as long as you can make yourself understood, it's not a problem.![]()

Hi BgonaSTICK,
Many thanks for your reply and no I hadn't set the skew. I have since done so but, the problem persists. At switch on I cannot get BBC1 Scotland (Ch 971) but if I "up Channel" to BBC1 NE (channel 975) I get a picture and then if I "down Channel to 971 all is OK until I switch off and then I have to perfom the swiching ritual again at switch on. I only replaced the dish and LNB because I was getting a bit of "breakup" which I thought was due to low signal strength. I think I should put my s-crap Sky dish back!! (only joking!!) Regards Blodgett |

Hi BgonaSTICK again,
I'm sorry I didnt go to the Satcure site before I replied to you. The symptoms I have described to you are the same as described on the Satcure filter site. I'l give it a go. Many thanks again for your advice and help. Regards Blodgett |

OK, good. It only seems to happen on Panasonic digiboxes, so it could be the answer.
Please let us know if it solves the problem, and leave your skew set at 20 degrees - that's where it should be. STICK
