Hi kev if that happens i would be very shocked m8.As i say on the conmen,If your smart today its best to invest in a good satellite dish or receiver.Today even with receivers you have to be very carefull,as there are so many on the market. The satellite hobbie is now set up for the newbie, with this thay can rip them off.I can not see nexst year being any different,im sorry to say.

I was actually wondering if ART will do a deal with Setanta. :?

They broadcast all Setanta live Scottish games at the moment, and Setanta have the rights for the Scottish games next season as well, and 46 (I think) English Premier League games.

Would be better than nothing.

well i doubt they can as their coverage area is the same as showtime so would kinda of conflict as art dont have rights for that area as they lost them due to some people saying the not tightening up of the distribution of cards did them

The start of the next Premiership season is light years away in terms of the satellite scene, so we'll have to wait until much nearer the time before a sensible decision can be made, unless like wod you are happy to pay.

Nothing wrong with that - it's nice to hear. Some packages really are worth splashing out on.

Yes, that's what I understood way back when ART did the deal. Nilesat/Irdeto only.

I don't usually comment on football as I'm not a fan, but I did notice that ART Football is shown in the Park Bar in Glasgow. We were in for a meal and they do good food and real ale, so I was curious. I enquired as to how they got it and the answer was that it's only available to commercial premises. This comment may, of course, be of no technical interest whatsoever to all you enthusiasts out there!!

Anyone can buy an Art card so it definitely is not just commercial premises. Unfortunately there still does not appear to be any info about the footy for 2007/2008.

In fact, you'll find that it's just the opposite - the current ART cards are for private use only, and not licensed for commercial premises.

They've probably bought a bundled 'pub system' which is exactly the same as the sort of kit we all use, except it costs four times the price...

:roflmao:

If they get caught, they could face a good going-over in the courts by Sky/FAPL/FACT.

To my knowledge, there have not been any cases brought against private users of ART cards. This could well be because it's nigh-on impossible to catch someone watching in their own home, because 'the authorities' can't enter your property without a search warrant.

Not sure if this helps but ..... as a Secretary to a small Workingmen's Club I was recently approached by a company to install an entertainment package primarily for bingo, disco's etc. As part of the install, they were prepared to install FOC a satellite system to show football. Their advice regarding the legality of doing so revolved around becoming members of ESTA (the European Satellite Television Association) and siting the Publicans Legal Defence Plan [PLDp] which was the getout. There was a case where Sky took a publican to a magistrates court and won the case against him, but this case proceeded to Crown Court where barristers succeeded in overturning the Magistrates Court decision.

Just my 2pennies worth.
