I have got a Technomate TM-1500 CI+ Super. I was planning on getting the TM1000D but was tempted by a 1500 going cheap. Now I got some questions about it: 1. What CAM can be inserted into the CI slot on the front? 2. What card can be inserted into the front? 3. The box also says that it has conax embedded, what will this do? |

Hiya mate,
Good choice I have the 1500 and am well pleased with it. From what I understand the answers to your questions are:1) Any CAM can be inserted into the CI slot. I think DIABLO and DRAGON are the most popular 'unofficial' CAMS ATM. 2) You can't use a SKY card or anything else that uses the NDS/VideoGuard encryption system. Might be a few other cards that won't work either, ones that use Griffin, PowerVue maybe :? Is their a particular card your wanting to know about? AFAIK a 'patched' 1500 will work with any card that use the following encryption: Viaccess, Nagravision, Cryptowork, Irdeto and Conax. 3) Conax is an encryption system, this means that your STB will work with a any card that uses this system. i.e. A DigitAlb should work without the need to patch you box. Hope this works, and more to the point I hope I'm right ![]() Kev

Hi, thanks for your reply mship.
There is no particular card at the moment, just wanting to know as much as possible about this box. What cards have you got - if you dont mind me asking? Would you suggest patching my box, even though I am using it with a sky mini dish pointed at 28.2 (I think - anyway the one with the sky digital channels), or should I wait till I get a better dish? |

I too also used to own a TM 1500, i thought it was a fantastic receiver aswell
![]() Your mini dish will most likely be pointing at Astra 2 @28.2e, which you will only get the FTA stuff on as the TM cant open up NDS encrypted broadcasts ![]() You will be able to get a good signal of 19.2e with it but you will need to re-align it to pick up the broadcasts. It will work fine on 19.2e until you get a bigger dish ![]() If you go for the likes of 80cm upward you will be able to receive 19.2e, & 13e on the same dish. You could then re-align your mini dish back upto 28.2 to get the FTA stff on Sky. To get all three satellites you will need to invest in a DISEqC switch to allow the receiver to switch between the 3 ![]() Most of the stuff thats viewable on patched TM is on 13e and 19.2e ATM. The only other exception to that is TV Cabo on 30w ![]() ![]() Nano

I know im being greedy now but what if I wanted to get more than three satellites, would this be possible with an 80cm dish, or will I have to go for a dish that blocks out the sun to my back garden?

I can get almost everything going using a motorised 90cm dish. I've been down the road of having loads of dishes, its great fun setting them up but the more channels you find the more dishes you want until your garden looks like an Earth Uplink station ![]() ![]() Nano

As Nano say's, It's pointless patching your box if it's only gonna be pointed at 28.2E (Sky satellite). If you decide to upgrade and go motorised though it is well worth patching as, currently, their is loads open ![]() Kev

With the right programmable cards there is even more stuff open, including most stuff encrypted in SECA 2 and Irdeto 2 - but they don't tend to last more than a few months each and they are expensive. They also need to go in a CAM as opposes to the card reader slot as they can run pretty hot. There is even a card to open ART/Arabesque in Viaccess 2.6 (I think that's right) - but it's almost as much as a real ART card!

My first post in this forum ![]() I have a TM 1500 and I have found out that it seems possible to enter irdeto keys. But the keys I can find are longer that what I can punch with this receiver. I was wondering if by adding an Irdeto cam it would allow to punch in longer keys. All the best to all members and moderators. |
