Spanish Royal Visit to SES’ Headquarters and Tour of ASTRA Satellite Ground Control Facilities

Betzdorf, Luxembourg, April 17th, 2007 – SES, the world’s pre-eminent satellite operator with a fleet of 36 spacecraft, was honored today by the visit of His Royal Highness Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia to the company’s Luxembourg headquarters.

The Spanish Royal couple was accompanied by Grand-Duke Henry of Luxembourg and Grande-Duchesse Maria Teresa on their visit of the state-of-the-art satellite control facilities of SES’ European ASTRA satellite system in the framework of their three-day official state visit to the Grand-Duchy.

The Royal Highnesses were welcomed by Mr. René Steichen, Chairman of the Board of SES, Mr. Luis Sanchez-Merlo, Member of the Board of Directors, Mr. Romain Bausch, President and CEO of SES, and Mr. Ferdinand Kayser, President and CEO of SES ASTRA. Pictures of the Spanish Royal visit to SES can be downloaded at: http://media.ses-astra.com/royal-visit/

In their respective welcome addresses to the Heads of State of Spain and Luxembourg, SES’ Executives underlined the role of SES’ ASTRA satellite system in the delivery of a wide range of broadcast and broadband services to Europe in general and the Iberian Peninsula in particular, and of SES NEW SKIES as an important provider of satellite capacity to Latin America. According to the latest ASTRA Satellite Monitor, 109.2 million TV homes in 35 European and North African countries received their audiovisual broadcast and broadband services via the ASTRA Satellite System. Out of these, 47.2 million homes – 2.2 million more than last year – received their signal directly from the ASTRA satellites (Direct-to-Home, DTH). In Spain, ASTRA serves 2.2 million homes in direct-to-home reception at year end 2006.
