Howdy,
![]() My pc keeps displaying "local area connection lost. A network cable has been removed" when I'm downloading or surfing. If I'm watching something on youtube, the clip stops downloading for a few seconds then starts again. It's getting quite annoying now. :spite: I connect to the net using a router, which is cabled through an ethernet pci card. It's a wireless router and the laptop connects wirelessly. Not a problem with the laptop which suggests it's the settings on the main pc. :? It happens when the lappy isn't even switched on, so I'm ruling out any probs from the lappy. Any suggestions? Regards

It could be the network card (could have developed a fault)or it could be the cable connections to the router.
Have you checked that the cable is not loose or damaged. |

Do you have a second Ethernet controller on your motherboard? If so switch to that. If it still plays up, buy a new cable. If there is no second controller, buy a PCI network card, followed by a replacement cable if no-go.
You may find some helpful info in the Windows log-files. Check the Event-Viewer output.
