Default Gemini 3.x for 7025?

Hi again!

I am new to the dreambox world and would like to know if there are any plans to get GEmini 3.x on 7025?
I feel like the 7025 is always lacking behind in terms of community software... I bought it thinking it was the best dreambox I could get but am starting to regret not buying a 7020....

I understand the hadrware is very different from 7020 to 7025 (diff proc?)... shame we cant just recompile the sources for 7025 ourselves...

Bugs.

Much of the code is in the public domain so if your technical skills are up to it then you could certainly recompile it!

Indeed, it's a completely different chipset. The source of much of the core software is available under GPL, but then much of the juicy code isn't public domain.

You shouldn't get obsessed with the numbers though - they are completely different images, and you can't really compare the 7020 to the 7025. 2.x or 3.x - it doesn't matter.

The 7025 is actually a little behind, but that's more because the developers write for the most popular boxes first, and also more frequently. That's always been the case I guess.

That's great, I didn't realise that the 2.x and 3.x weren't that much different!
Good news!

The 2.x for the 7020 and 3.x version for the 7020 are quite different, but the 2.x versions on the 7025 don't relate to the 2.x versions on the 7020 if you see what I mean.

So don't worry, you're not missing out

Sorry...I have to share the same sentiment as bugsland. I can do everything on my 7020 but when it comes to the 7025 its a completely different story... need to use a pc for a lot of the editing as it's no longer ........."in box".
Reminds me of a similar problem with camcorders. The analogue ones had built-in character generators ( for making titles ). Along came digital and all character generators disappeared. You need your pc to put titles in nowadays. A similar retrograde step.
The inevitable end result ? In ten years time there will be no more satellite receivers. Every function will be carried out in the pc , by the pc.
