Hello,
I'm quite new to satellite setups, and I'm trying to set up a satellite dish to pick up free analogue french tv from Atlantic Bird 5w. I only have a dish which was used for sky digital - could this be used to pick up analogue signals? thanks in advance |

I used to use a Sky minidish to get analogue signals from Astra 1
![]() I have managed to get a fairly good digital signal off 5w with a minidish so in theory you should get away with it, although you may get sparklies on the screen during inclement weather. :? You may also have to cut the case of the Sky lnb to allow you to move the internal part round to get the right polarisation angle. I don't think the Sky lnb will go round that far unless the case is cut or you are using one of those Wistron (WNC) lnbs that fit on to the dish in much the same way as a standard lnb. Please also be aware that the French FTA stuff on 5w is broadcast in SECAM format and not PAL like we use in the UK. You will need your TV or receiver to be SECAM compatible to watch these broadcasts. In all honesty you would probably be better off getting a cheap FTA Digital receiver sooner rather than later as the analogue transmission will only be there for probably another one or two years before it gets pulled. Hope this helps ![]() ![]() Nano
