Ok made a few calls , and a local shop has the following

He said the 1st is non up gradable but the later is !!

This place don’t Technomates due to its unreliability !!!

He also had Hard drive receivers 2nd hand and tested , these were GB Sat 2c120 and 2c60 , any good ?

He was also very very helpful , so would like to deal with him .

So any advice be great thx

Nothing unreliable about Technomates. I'm on my second one and i've had no problems at all with it, just like the first. The only reason i sold the first one was because i upgraded to a Dreambox, and later decided to buy the second for the bedroom

They are probably one of the best supported receivers going at the moment.

There are a loads of people on this forum that own Technomates and they will all tell you they are cracking receivers for the money. They are definately one of the easiest to use as well in my humble opinion

Your guy at your local shop obviously doesn't know what hes talking about I would suggest you look elsewhere if i was you :spite:

Ere Sid, are you on commission mate

Can't say anything about the Vantage as i've never seen one in the flesh although from what i have seen they have had some fantastic reviews and have even had their own little slot on Dr Dish TV on 13e which can't be bad.

I would take Sids word for it as i'm sure everyone else will say is that Sid is probably one of the most respected guys on here who knows what hes on about

The Vantage is well worth looking at although i wouldn't discount the Technomate as it is also a good receiver aswell

Although I can't speak German (does 'Ballack' count? ) it looks like the Vantage may have some support already,
judging from the link posted by sid

Will be interesting to see if this continues/improves with time

I have a technomate 1500ci super and it is a superb picture i love the box but at the moment the technomate is not opening the TPS package where alot of fta boxes are. Techno's seem to be a couple of weeks behind some other boxes and afaik there is only one dude supplying the dodgy software. If he goes on holiday then there are no updates for a bit.

My friend who is Serbian who has a dish on hotbird asked me on advice on what box to get. I said techno but the sat shop he spoke to said echolink/wiztech...i hadn't heard of it so my mate got a techno but those boxes are opening TPS package on hotbird atm and the technomate isn't.
