I have tried both above receivers and found:

Topfield TF7700 is the best performer because it does auto switch between 576i and 1080i over HDMI and component and even the SD channels look fantastic when you compare to Humax which upscales everything.

What do you think of the general quality of the 7700? Normally the Topfield stuff is really nice.

How much did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?

Any other observations?

http://TF7700 is a very good receiver but more expensive than Humax.
It is now selling for around £250.

Good Points:

Picture is brilliant (even SD channels)
Sound is brilliant
Fast Scanning
Adding new transponder is easy
Works nice with Dragon Cam
Firmware updatable via USB key
Solid quality receiver

Bad Points:

When using HDMI cable, RGB not available on Scart.
I don’t like the remote in black colour and tiny keys. Difficult when room light is switched off.
I am now using an old silver colour remote of Topfield. Luckily all functions work.
