Community site Xbox Circle has reported that during a recent interview with ITMedia, Microsoft boss Peter Moore stated that the Xbox 360 could see an add-on Blu-ray drive launched for it.
The high-definition format, already built in to the PlayStation 3, would launch for Microsoft's system if, according to Moore, it becomes the clear winner in the current DVD war. While HD-DVD is Microsoft's preferred DVD format, Moore points out that as Xbox 360 uses an external DVD drive it allows them to adapt to whatever standard wins out. Moore also went on to say that Microsoft would never ship future iterations of their console with a built-in drive, believing that such a move limits the gamer's choices.
