Default Toroidal Dish Q

Right, I am intending on buying two 'WAVE FRONTIER 90CM TOROIDAL DISH'S

Two because each dish can hold 16 LNBs, the LNBs have to be 4 Deg apart and can be at most 60Degrees from the furthest east to west.

I'd like to get all the birds that transmit TV.

I'd like to get the following:

East
4.6
4.8
5.0
7.0
10.0
13.0
16.0
19.2
21.5
23.5
25.5
26.0
28.2
28.5
31.5
33.0
39
42.0

West

4
5
7
8
11
12.5
15
18
22
24.5
27.5
30

Just by looking at it, can anyone see any problems with that? Is there anything I can't get (Im in wales)? Should I add anything else to my list?

Also, if I can't get them all on two, i'll get a third toroidal dish.

Hi gav,i have a (WAVE FRONTIER 90CM TOROIDAL DISH)for a start i use 4 way disec switches for my receivers.vantage or technomate both can use more than 4 ports for disec, both can be patched.Gav i have my dish set from 19e going west to about 22w now,you can get more west if you wish.ARE YOU AFTER FEEDS FROM THIS DISH?some birds your not see signel as well as others.Past 1w is better here for where i live.If you get this dish add a few alps lnbs as there thiner, your not need to many but will help on setup. Now when you setup the dish,im not 100% sure you will do what you want to.I found for the dishes best signel i had to use the center of the clark belt.ie round 1 west or 5 east.ps here is a nice tip that will save you time.once you have your dish on the wall, look to where 30w is in the sky.your find this is where the lnb goes for 19 east there other way round due to the refletor plate.on the refletor plate make sure you have right way up 2.LOL when you first pull this dish out to put together your be driven nuts lol.good luck gav.

Thanks, I think what I'll do is put the LNBs on one by one, I'll work out which LNBs are going where and then get one or two LNBs lined up, so the rest won't be too hard. Thanks for the advice!

East
4.6
4.8
5.0 4.6 / 4.8 & 5E should all fall under one lnb. I can get Astra 1C & Sirius 2 easy as anything on an 80cm.
7.0
10.0
13.0
16.0
19.2
21.5 You are unlikely to get anything off 21.5E
23.5 Probably Astra 1D only
25.5 No chance on a 90cm
26.0
28.2
28.5 28.2/5 will be on one lnb
31.5 Forget Optus A3 at 31.5E - its very wobbly & low powered - and is only carrying the test channels Astra 1C carries.
33.0
39 You should get a few channels from 40E as well
42.0

West

4 You may get a few Amos 2 European beam channels but not much else
5
7 You are a bit too far west to get much off 7W on a 90cm dish.
8
11
12.5
15
18
22
24.5
27.5
30

Gav if your doing this way on lnb setup, use a marker pen for where each sat is.just mark where on the bar for each sat.with this you can use one coxal cabel, then you can make up your mind how many lnbs you want.

The only single-tuner receiver I know that will switch 32 LNBs is the Dreambox (it can handle up to 64). There are probably one or two others. You'll need some uncommitted switches if you want it all to be handled automatically.

You could either buy the 7020, or wait a few weeks (hopefully!) for the Dreambox 8000 HD. This will be the dogs danglies by a very long way.

The 7020 doesn't have the most sensitive of tuners (but it's by no means bad) and we have no idea what the 8000's tuners will be like.

Personally I wouldn't tackle the H to H issue with two toroidal dishes. If you want a toroidal, maybe you could have one to cover the middle span and a motorised setup to cover the extremities of the arc?

I think the Wavefrontier T90 will struggle to handle anything past about 25E/W without adding LNB extension brackets, and won't go out to 42E. If you were to use two (one East, one West), you would have to cant them over in a slight 'V' configuration.

An interesting project should you go for it though.

I think I'd just go for a motorised, although I do like the speed of multi-LNB switching.

Hi stick.myself i would not use any receiver with a weak tuner init.Wavefrontier T90 is going to be boarder line on signel strenth.so better the tuner the more your pick up.with vantage it will be good on this setup,i could pull in the cricket world cup feed from 15 west, when it was on.a lot said thay could not.also with the vantage you have disec 1.1 so you have 16 lnbs ports from there.gav this is somthing else to ponder on.
