Default Adding new satellites into Dreambox for DISEqC motor

To add a new satellite to your dreambox you need to add it in the satellite configuration after adding it in transponder edit first. On my dreambox i found if you didn't get it right first time the name doesn't appear in the list, just a blank space

Menu > 6> Service searching> Transponder edit. (this is the bit that has to done right first time, if you go back and edit it after it has been saved the rest won't work)

Click on Sat then press green button to add new satellite

go back to main menu after adding new satellite details

6> Service serching > Satellite configuration > Many Sats DISEqC rotor > yellow button.

It should add it to the bottom of the list in the sat config.

When you go to Motor setting it will then be added at the bottom of the list.

This is how i do it on the Nabilosat image in my 7020 and it seems to work for me although i should imagine its the same on all the other images and DBs available.

Hi Nano

Tks for the nice posting. I need help. Initially I used to see the all the Satellites_XML (SES-XML) satellite names i.e. Hotbird 6/7/8 - 13E and others with names like hotbird and the position number 13E.
I dont know what I did while playing with my Dreambox DM-7020S. Now I see all the satellites (SES-XML) with the figures only i.e. 13E, 19.2E....etc.

Pls can u assist me to get the names back.

Tks

Can't think how to do it just now, I'll need to have a play.

The last time i had to do that i just downloaded the newest Gemini and started from scratch again, mind you i'd not long had the box so i would probably be able to figure it out eventually.

Let me look into mate

You could just try replacing the satellites.xml file with a new one, no idea if it would work. If i remember rightly it goes inot the Var/etc folder.

You can just edit satellites.xml with a half-decent editor (not Notepad!)

Hi Stick

Thanks for your reply but I did not understand what you meant. Can you please be more precised - The dummy way.

b-t-w, I checked the image in the Dreambox flash i.e. Gem 2.69 and everything seems to be fine there. All Satellite listing is ok in the base image.

K/Rgds

I recommend UltraEdit. That prog works very well and also opens up a lot of other progs that appear unreadable. Be careful with binary files though.
