Default SkyStar 2, Motorised Dish and Few Other Q's

I'm fairly new to all this satellite malarkey so was wanting a bit of advice.

I have tried an failed with many a DVB-S PCI/USB tuner card to get one to work my motorised satellite dish (the motor supports diseqc 1.2). Even though they say they support it, the is no option within any of the software to control it.

Having read a few threads I see that the Skystar 2 can be updated to support it and therefore seems a good buy, if this is the case.

However, does anyone know of any software that would work with the Terratec Cinergy 1200 DVB-S PCI tuner card, ot the Terratec Cinergy S USB?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Welcome to the forum

'Fraid I don't know of any other cards which can be upgraded to DiSEqC 1.2 via a plugin, though the Skystar 2 most certainly can.

If you want to go that way, we can help get you up and running.

One or two cards support DiSEqC 1.2 out of the box.

Thanks very much the welcome

Where is the cheapest place to get hold of one of these Skystar 2 PCI cards? This does seem to be my best option

Falconsat.co.uk have them for £36.99 + £7.34 p+p. No idea what they're like as I've never bought from them before :?

Or you could always try ebay

Cheers for the link. Special delivery (will be next day before 1pm) is only 8p more than standard. Might as well go with that

Cool - let us know how you get on, or if you need any help getting it running properly

It can also be used to decode a fair bit of payTV without the 'pay' bit. More simple software plugins.

Right the card has arrived and I have installed it (including drivers and software).

I would really like some help to get the DiSEqC 1.2 set up and anything else you might think is useful for me.

Cheers

Try installing ProgDVB V4.85.1 (www.progdvb.com) or AltDVB V2.2 (_http://www.dvbsoft.net/download.php?view.598) and then get yourself vPlug V1.7.1.1 (_www.skystar-2.com) and your motor plugin - MiBi V1.10 (http://www.satellitehelp.co.uk/forum...ic,4491.0.html). Also get the latest keys from skystar-2.com.

You then need to find the version number of the official SS2 drivers you have installed, and then locate a matching modified driver (SkyNET.sys) from MiBi to compliment the plugin.

If you let us know which version drivers you have, we may be able to supply the modded version of SkyNET.sys.

Read all the readme files inside-out and upside-down ten times. It all takes a little while to sink in (well, it did with me!) If your still stuck, we'll walk you through.

I just had a mess around the other night (and got very lucky) because I have got the dish moving with ProgDVB no problem. Singal quality isn't as high as with the STB I got with the Maplin's kit I bought a few months back, but I can have a fiddle with positions when I have a bit more time.

I may be back yet for help...who knows lol
