Default Need replacement receiver for Nokia Mediamaster 9902S

Hi,

I've just joined this forum and I am new to satellite receivers.

I have moved to a new house which has a Nokia antenna with a SatScan motor which is supplied with power through the antenna cable. The previous owners used a Nokia Mediamaster 9902S receiver, but I currently do not have a receiver and would like to buy one which is compatible with the Nokia receiver.
Which receivers are recommended that are not to expensive that I can buy on-line with warranty ? I also need the receiver to be shipped to Germany where I live.

I believe the digital receiver needs to be able to control the antenna, i.e. which supports DiSEqC 1.0 and 1.2 for SatScan, LNB feed 13/18V, max 500 mA.

Also, is it possible to get a receiver that meets the above specs and can be used to receive High Definition stations ?

Thanks for any feedback.
David

:welc3: to the forum David

If you after HD and the ability to control the motor its worth waiting for the Dreambox 8000

The only limiting factor with this receiver other than its not been released yet is that it comes with a very, very steep learning curve. If you good with the likes of FTP it won't take you long to figure it out, if your not go for something else

Other receivers to look out for are the likes of the Vantage which is patchable (can open pay-to-view channels without the need to pay for them) and has probably the fastest blind search function going. I'm sure Satsid will fill you in somewhere later on in this thread as he has probably the most experience at the moment with this make of receiver

Another receiver which has excellent support on the side of patching is the Technomate 1000 series. Although this receiver is getting on a bit it still offers excellent value for money and like i said is patchable and will do all the stuff on the motorised size

Have a search on the forum from the main index page for 'Satscan' and 'Nokia' etc.. I think that this is proprietary technology and not compatible with DiSEqC 1.2 - you need a dedicated and now out-of-date Nokia positioner.

is the motor a 36volt type as you could just use a vbox to any diseqc 1.2 compatible receiver ?
