TV4 Sweden will launch its new high definition channel next Monday (May 28) with distribution on the Canal Digital DTH platform and Com Hem on cable.
The channel will commence broadcasting at 21.00 with the series premier of the new series of the Kiefer Sutherland’s spy hokum 24. The broadcaster will also be showing series including Numbers and The Ghost Whisperer in the HD format. In partnership with Canal Digital and TV2 Norway and TV2 Denmark, TV4 will also screen the Euro 2008 football championships in HD format. Public broadcaster SVT established its own HD channel last summer, in time for the World Cup, making Sweden the first country where the leading public and commercial broadcasters operate permanent HD services, though initially only five hours per week will be in genuine HD.

Japan, Korea all have commercial and public HD channels that are permanent. Did not mention BBC HD yet since we have no idea if its permanent.
