I always build my own, even though it doesn't work out much cheaper in reality because I use quality components.
I get exactly what I want, have fun researching and building it, and I tend to bounce several displaced components between my many PC's - so they all get an upgrade. I don't think I've had any component failures within three years of purchase, and it's relatively cheap and easy to replace bits that do eventually fail. It's so much hassle returning stuff, and I wouldn't trust any of those idiots with my kit anyway. I would certainly never let my hard disk out of my sight. I can't imagine going into Lidl and asking for PC support. If I didn't find the DIY thing an enjoyable experience, then of course I'd buy a pre-built box - probably from Dell. I'd never ever buy a box that had a motherboard which used shared memory for graphics though.

My first item is the dvd/HDD/tuner recorder which looks good value but I haven't seen that make before. I assume the tuner is analogue. As I already have a Toshy dvd/hdd recorder I will give it a miss.

Stick, NO failures? You obviously didn't buy an Asus P5N-E SLI m/b!! I had 3 before I ended up with this one and its still not right.. Dell are going to take over the world. Greta value but not much is stock, and most only have 2 pci slots and only 1 pciX16. The Spec I mentioned earlier was a Dell..

I lied. I did have one very cheap PSU which died within 24 hours, and I just threw it in the bin and bought a proper one. False economy huh?
I've built many PC's and never had any other failures. Guess I'm a jammy sod ![]() I've had one or two DOA's but not a failure in service as such.
