Default Re: English, French and Italian FTA?

Hello,
Sorry for the absence and thank you both for your advice...

Just wanted to give you a quick update: I'm looking for local installers and try and get quotes for the job I want... Not much luck so far...

In the mean time, I'm looking forward to any updates you may have on French Freeview and I have a question: I have been to France recently and I looked at these analogue receivers in a Leclerc hypermarket, but all I could found was the freeview receivers, are these what I'm looking for? Can they also receive satellite data?

Thanks!

Nothing much yet Fabio - apart from "French Freesat" will operate off 19E, and will be scrambled using Viaccess 3 and will require French bank/cc details to reduce the number of boxes taken out of France.

Terrestrial receivers cannot receive satellite TV unless they are combination terrestrial/satellite with two tuners.

That's great news, thanks Analoguesat!

So the plan is to get 19E, 13E and 28E using a motorised dish and a receiver with a hard disk and possibly built-in Viaccess 3...

Will get some quotes and let you know how it goes...

Thanks again for your advice!

Hello,
I found the Topfield TF4000PVR Plus 160GB HDD at the following URL:

http://www.turbosat.com/acatalog/Top...0PVR_Plus.html

There's an option to add Viaccess MPEG4 Cam for £59 - is that what I need to view the french channels?

Any thoughts on this deal?

Thank you!

No - you will need a viaccess 3 TNT box from France

Looks like TNTSat will also be encrypted in SECA 2 to ensure compatibility with the existing CanalSat boxes (I guess), so maybe the Topfield will be OK (with a SECA CAM) after all!?

http://en.kingofsat.net/pack-tntsat.php

You'll still have the challenge of registering with French bank account details it seems.

Brymar also sell the Topfield for the same price.

An analogue box for the half dozen channels on 5W Cheap as chips on Ebay, or can be picked up new and dirt cheap in the big French hypermarkets.
I noticed a few weeks ago in the Cora Hypermarket in Cambrai (N. France) a complete Analogue setup including receiver, dish, lnb, c@ble and fittings for €39 Definately a bargain even if its just for the dish and fittings

To be honest with you Fabio I would hold off buying anything for this service for a few weeks until the situation clarifies itself somewhat.
