Default Connecting sat box to dvd recorder

Can anyone tell me how to connect my sat box to the dvd recorder?

Both boxes have 2 scart sockets on back and are pretty standard. Ive set it up how described and it wont work. Ive also tried with my freeview box and that wont work either although it will pick up the 5 standard channels but this is because the only way i did this was by plugging the aerial into the dvd recorder as it said in instructions although i am using scart connections.

So basically how can i get it to recognise channels when it wants the aerial going into it before the signal has been decoded?

Also the satellite aerial connection is a different type to standard aerial so wouldnt fit in aerial socket on dvd recorder anyway.

Basically i have 1 scart going from sat box to tv then 1 scart on the sat box that says vcr (in this case dvd recorder) going to the dvd recorder in the correct scocket however when i search for channels on the dvd recorder ie signal from my sat box it wont find anything >

Sorry if that doesnt make sense im not very good with terminology but its driving me mad > > > > >

Cheers as normal

You wont find any channels on your DVD recorder by using a scart lead. If your DVD recorder has a built in digital tuner you just need to connect an aerial lead to it and tune in the channels.
If you want to record from your freeview box, or anything else connected to your DVD recorder using a scart, like I do with a Satellite receiver, just set your DVD recorder to AV1 or AV2, depending which scart socket your using and record, to set the timer ensure the channel is set to the correct AV channel.
If you still have problems please post back with the make/model of your DVD recorder.

As Mickha says, you select the input to your dvd recorder by using the 'select input' button and you select the channels by changing them on your sat box.

Usually, the dvd recorder has one input/output scart and one input only scart. If you are feeding from sat box to dvd recorder then to tv, you need to have the tv connected to the input/output scart.

Thanks for the replies guys.

Good news is i got it working but with no thanks to the crap manual. Had to skip the searching for channels bit as gave up with that but after a bit of button bashing on the remote i found the button that changes the input and once changed to scart instantly picked up my sat box
