I finally got round to motorising the minidish! Surprisingly, it pulls in 19e, 28e, 13e, 30w and others really well. Struggling with 16e though, I can only get the strongest tp's.

Nice pictures Dave. The small dish sure makes the motor look big.

I did consider a bigger dish, but had this one lying around so thought I'd give it a go! It's the smaller zone 1 rather than zone 2, and it seems likely that being as far south as I am here in Bristol definitely helps. Even so, I couldn't believe it when it worked!

Great stuff. 16E will be tough on that dish for sure.
Have you adjusted the skew on the LNB?

Yeah, I did adjust for skew. It seems that I'm lucky to have a sky lnb that can be adjusted this way. It has a scale of 0 - 5 for skew.

Excellent.
An inspiration to anyone who's wondering if they can do it or not. Err, motorised sat TV I mean... ops:Cheap, simple and effective.

To be honest, I'm seriously considering it as I have a spare mini-dish lying around and T&K brackets with 2 in pole already in place from an intended 80cm motorised set up that I chickened out of - as well as a Geotrack motor lying around the house.
ETA in fact the T&K and pole is in an identical position to that in the pictures above. 8)
