My two penneth...

A good starting point for the settings on your receiver is to simply leave it as it came out of the box!

Most settings won't need changing. DiSEqC should probably be set to none, and the LNB setup should almost certainly be left alone. Transponder (TP) frequencies should already be loaded, though they might be slightly out of date.

Finding the satellite in the sky is a two-stage process. The first is to do the maths, as the guys have done above. The second is to plug the gap between the logic and the reality. In other words, the mathematics and science are fine, but the dish has to point at the satellite - so you'll have to play with the last little bit of adjustment manually to maximise the signal.

The best way to do this is with a decent meter, but if you only have a 'satellite find' type option on your receiver - just use that.

There's no point doing a full-sat auto scan until you know you're on it.

by the way, nanochicken, what does "Loads of stuff open atm on my TM1000D on D+ in English" mean please?
OK basically what i mean by that is that on a patched Technomate TM1000 D receiver it is possible to open Pay TV without the need to actually pay for it. D+ is Digital+ which is the Spanish Equivilent of Sky.

At the moment you should be able to open D+ Spain 19.2e and 30w , TV Cabo Portugal on 30w and TPS France 13e on a patched Technomate 1000 series receiver. There is also some Cryptoworks encrypted stuff open on 15w (Telstar 12) and 5e (Sirius) Most of this can be received in english by setting the default language to English

I,m only on 19.2e atm as its the only bird i can actually get line of sight for all of the day where i am.

Good luck, and stick with it

It's fiddly, but only a matter of 'waggling it about' a bit
