Hi, I live in Walsall and I bought a fixed 80cm dish last year for footy on hotbird. I'm now looking at moving to Digi alb on 16E for next season. Should I try moving my dish or am I wasting my time ? Should I just go for a 1m dish ?
thanks Richard |

Hi symon I know Walsall well - I was born there
![]() Usual advice is 90cm - 100cm for digialb, but why not swing your dish around and try it. Even if you cant watch it you can see what the signal strengths will be like. Try aligning using one of the frequencies carrying high bitrate Bulgarian fta channels and tweak it from there

I,m just down the road from you in Wolverhampton. I get Digitalb on a 90cm dish no problem at all in all weathers.
![]() I could get it on my old 80cm dish but it was a bit touch and go when it rained or was very overcast ![]() ![]() Nano

Live not to far away in Tamworth could somebody tell me what compass bearing you have your dishes pointed at for digitalb reception. As my neighbours back garden have some 20 ft apple trees in the direction I think I need to point the dish at and I want it ground mounted, but the garden is only 12 foot wide.
I feel the shape of the house makes it impractical for myself to attach a motorised dish to it. So to save me some expense if it isn't practical a compass bearing would help so I can check it first. Thanks |

Welcome to the forum Sotv. The satellite is 16 degrees east of south but the angle will depend upon your location/longitude.

Your Lat. and Long. are approximately:
N52:38:01 W1:41:28 If you feed that into the SMW link utility (link in our Utils section) it should give you what you need. Alternatively, you can get a reasonable idea from Google Earth. This satellite is above the Equator at longitude 16E - right over Congo!

With an offset dish, you might be surprised how high the dish 'looks' up to the satellites. It's not the angle it appears from the alignment of the dish face itself.
