As you know, I just bought TM-9100 and here is my first question:
I want to be able to stream live content from TM to my DLink DSM-320RD, which is UPnP AV media box. I also want to be able to switch channels via DLink remote (I'm probably asking too much ). Is there such as UPnP AV plugin thing available or should I write my own? If it is the latter, then can someone point me to plugin writer's guide? How should it interface with TM software and where can I get cross-compiler tools?

With the dreambox, you can http://dream IP and it will open a control window for the dreambox after you enter the dreambox login and password. I imagine the Techy is similar. You may also be able to install VLC which will allow you to sream video.

VLC is not an option as my media network is entirely PC-less. It consists of NAS and 3 media players, two of which are game consoles. The remaining one is dedicated DVD/Network media player, which I want to use as a 'proxy' sat receiver.
In short, the idea is as follows: Satbox presents available channels as file list to player. Then, user chooses "file" from the list and satbox is streaming MPEG2 straight to player. No conversion should be required (this is my guess), unless MPEG container is significantly different from what player is expecting. Pressing Prev/Next buttons on player sends command to satbox, which should change channel. Of course, to do this, the satbox should announce itself as UPnP AV server, just like TVersity or Twonkyvision. Then, DSM should accept it and be able to choose "files". Is such thing exists? If not, then where can I get developer's kti and some information about plugin interface? |

i found this on another forum:
If the NAS is like NSLU2 from Linksys or Linux embeded with Samba, you can mount directly from the 'Communication panel' the share with the right informations. you can mount a folder on receiver from your windows. you can try : file://IP_OF_YOUR_BOX also, CIFS work |

Samba on Slug is all good and such... but - the question is how can you select the channel on satbox in case of SMB or CIFS (same thing really)?
My idea was to create a 'virtual satbox' for remote location, so that I won't have to lay cables and upgrade my LNBs. |

The easiest way to command it would be via a web interface. Does the 9100 have a web interface?
How else would you expect to do it without writing your own channel-switching code? I suppose you could look at the webIF code to get a clue on any API's.

HTTP interface is pretty much useless for media renderer. The channel switching code is a problem, however, the idea is to represent channels as list of 'files'. The UPnP AV renderer normally doesn't understand channels, but it knows how to handle file list. Once 'file' is selected, the renderer sending connection request to server. The server (TM9100 plugin) should look in selected 'file name' and change channel accordingly, then start streaming MPEG2.TS to renderer.
Here is UPnP AV protocol description: http://www.upnp.org/specs/av/UPnP-av...1-20020622.pdf In case of DSM-320RD the renderer and control point are the same unit, so internal interactions are done by DLink software. What is needed is to create UPnP AV server for TM9100 (or Dreambox), which will be able to present channels as 'files' and stream TS over network. In such case, it'll be completely transparent to user and no additional software/hardware will be required. Sure, it sounds simpler that it is, but if you guys know some team or can point me to some place where I could get access to TM9100 firmware source code and plugin spec, then I might try to implement it. Not sure if I would be able to do so, but at least I could try. |

Finally found some time to play with Techie. To cut long story short - this is one bloody cool device!
The lack of chasing recording sucks big time, however, and my understanding is that it is impossible to fix due to hardware limitations. I installed UPnP server on TM-9100 (Twonkyvision for DM-7020) and DLink DSM320 happily picking up saved videos. But no live stream, unfortunately. |
