Can someone please try UPnP AV server built in Gemini 2.30? What kind of functionality does it provide?

Gemini 2.3 is an enigma 2 image and will only run on the dreambox 7025 at present so unless you have one dont try it.

I dont know if the Techy will run enigma 2 but I would be suprised if it will.

Well... I am not trying to run Enigma 2 but rather want to know about functionality of UPnP server built into Enigma 2. Am I right that Gemini is open source?

I've never seen any source for it. There's one place to find out though - IHAD

They are not obliged to release their source just because it runs on Linux - only those parts covered by the GPL.

There is going to be the mother of all UNIX legal actions bought this summer/autumn by SCO against Novell which could have huge ramifications for Linux and it's open-source foundation.

I know that not everything running under Linux is open source and not all open source is running under Linux...

Am I right in my assumption that if Gemini is closed-source project, I'll need to contact Darkman to get information about Techno?

I have no idea which parts of Gemini are open source, if any. I suspect it's open to some, and not to others. I'm sure they rely heavily on the guys who contribute to the CVS project and draw on their experience too.

I don't know who's writing the images for the TM9100. It could be Darkman's crew, it could be someone else. If it goes anything like the Dreambox, there will be several images available in time.

As with all the Linux boxes, it's probably a collaboration between any number of individuals or teams. Most of the emulators are written by stand-alone development teams, most of whom 'compete' with each other for fun.

If you want to get into it, you should ask the people who run these teams. I suspect that until you've contributed to the scene for quite some time that you'll hit many brick walls. They all have a lot to lose and it's a pretty closed world, as I'm sure you'll appreciate.

Yes, I understand the complexity of the issue (I mean, getting info). But as you probably figured that out, I am not interested in breaking encryption (well... almost ) but rather want to concentrate on media part of the device.
My goal is to use this satbox as part of my network, so that it'll be accessible at any given time on any media renderer. Not sure if this is possible at all... But it is quite an interesting task.

Yes, I agree. I think you may struggle to get the info you need to do it though from those sources. You might be better off going via the CVS route. It's a lot less cloak and dagger.

I have no interest in Linux open source development, so can't direct you to the source of the source

I have a close friend who works at SCO and knows the products inside out - he's convinced they'll win

Legal stuff has a tendency to turn around and bite you in the arse though...
