Hi argonaught
Which fortec do you have at present.Technomates are still well supported and possibly for some time yet.Although I would have gone for an stb with ci slot always handy.
I still have a fortec 5100 which has always had a good power scan and i use diablo cam so really its like a patched stb.
Also i can still update some codes in fortec built in emulator.I do have the Technomate 1000ci standard model and that is easey to patch. or if im lazy i can put my diablo in the ci slot.
To rely on emu support for ever is expecting to much these days.As they keep fetching clones to keep things moving.

I think when you say Super, you mean TMS. 'S' is for 'Sensitive', not Super. I would avoid the TMS and go for a TM1000D Super personally - simply because there are many more about, and they definitely patch OK. There have been reports that some of the non-mainstream Technomate 1xxx series boxes (TM-1600 for example) have bugs in the patched firmware.

I can't vouch for the TMS-1000D patching perfectly, though I'm sure there are members here that have done it OK. Have a search if you really want the TMS version. I'm sure RobH has patched one.

Just got back with my Technomate (TMS-1000D). Plugged it in, ran a quick search (took about 3-4 mins) on 19.2, already it picked up tonnes more channels that my Fortec must have missed! Plugged it in to my PC, used the uploader to stick on the latest Darkman f/w and the softcam at the top of the list on altec... and bingo! Suddendly I can watch loads of the channels that were scrambled before, like Canal+ Foot!!!

I'm happy as larry! Can't believe how easy it was & how well it works!

Bit disappointed there are still many encrypted channels, particularly the Dutch ones, but I'm still extremely happy with my purchase! Thanks to Stick and all you guys on here for your help!

No problem m8. Glad it's working well. You'll have to update the keys regularly.

Do they change that often then? How often roughly?

1-3 days mostly, but sometimes twice or more in the same day depending on what's showing in the sport world, bizzarely.

Crickey! I was thinking once a month or something!
Looks like I'll have to try and figure out a way to keep my desktop PC (upstairs) permanantley connected by serial cable to the Technomate (downstairs). Can you get a serial cable that long??

Is there an easier way? I keep hearing about CAMs/programmers - is that a way to store the keys on a removable card rather than having to keep plugging in and downloading softcams?

The update needed is mostly for D+ on 19E and is to be done twice daily. TPS (including Canal Plus) on 13E is still OK on its own for now.

Hey, don't complain - you are getting free TV after all

You can get wireless serial kits

OK for shipping keys, but I would NEVER flash the Techno firmware over wireless (or even a serial cable longer than 10m - even then there is an increased risk of failure).

I use wireless on my Dreambox, but that works in a different way - it's buffered before it's applied.
