Meanwhile for D+ at the moment you do not need to use the c@ble; you can enter keys (obtained from the usual places) through the Remote Control.

PS Once you get used to it, it takes only about a minute to do.

Ta for the advice. I think what I'll do is get a USB->Serial adapter, and a really long USB cable. The wireless idea looks cool but those adapters are >£100! Would be very easy to just use my laptop - if it wasn't a mac ops:

Beware long cables altogether for flashing... the longer the cable the greater the risk of introducing errors.

As Bigtee says,
just enter the keys manually via your remote. The last software update for TM was 11/05/07. Since then I have kept my box up to date by entering keys manually. Unless it becomes a regular thing, just take the box upstairs when necessary - a small sacrifice to make to receive free TV.

Regards,

Yorks.

excuse the extreme ignorance of a newbie but where are 'the usual places'?

You'll build up collection of your own favorite places over time, but you could always start with rdi-sat.com for plain keys.

alsat.co.uk is the place to go to get Technomate-related stuff, but they are an unfriendly bunch IMO. Just grab the stuff you need and get out.

It's one of the big ones. I've used it for years with no problems, but you should always take precautions.

Hi wod, well done my son on the spyware spot, your find a few places like this m8.Guys who own there boards dis like me,when iv said on spyware @ there boards. There is a few ways thay hit us with spyware,it can be the web addy or loader patch or softcam I dont care who owns a board if thay add spyware i tell them straight. Then your get this sort of thing back(your a troubel maker)this is just not true.If thay did not use the spyware then i would say nothing. Now if i get hit this way i report it you might want to do the same.
