Hi, i'm a newbie to all this, but I'm a fast learner! I've recently moved to Cyprus, and the house I'm renting has 2 satellite setups.
The 1st is a 2.4 mtr dish connected to a Pace Sky Digibox. When I moved in 2 weeks ago I had a few channels, such as Sky news and Bravo, but not much else. We had a really bad storm and my bird aviary on the roof flew into the dish and now all I get is "error 29, no signal is being recieved". I'm guessing that the dish may have been moved slightly, although its secured well and wont move if I try. Ive taken the sky box up on the roof and plugged it in using only about a mtr of cable, just to see if the cable had been damaged but I still get the same error code. Help!! All I'm really worried about is Sky News. I would love to recieve the UK terrestrial channels, but from what I've read so far, it seems i would need a 4.2 mtr dish, and I just can't afford one right now. The 2nd is a 1 mtr or 1.2 mtr dish connected to a star track box. It has 2 lnb's. (I'm new to this and don't yet know why). I can recieve Dubai one, MBC 1, 2, 3 and Action. I was told by the owner that It used to recieve BBC prime & Euro News but doesn't any longer. BBC Prime is still listed with a signal strengh of 50%, but it says "service unavailable". I was talking to someone in a bar that said they have just got BBC Prime added to their station list, but they are paying for a service called "My Vision", provided by the local telephone company, "Cytanet". Can anyone help?? |

OK, just looking up error code 29 it says:
"Warning - do not mount your bird aviary on top of your satellite dish" ![]() I guess it just means that the signal strength isn't sufficient. Sounds like either the dish moved, the LNB moved or the LNB was damaged. Are there any visible signs of damage to the dish face itself? What about the arm(s) holding the LNB? I take it that it's a prime focus dish (LNB mounted in the centre of the dish)? I'll have to do some reading-up on what the current dish size requirements are for Cyprus, but can you tell us any more about the two LNBs on the 1-and-a-bit metre dish? Some photos might help us work out what options you have for free channels and Sky News in particular. Do you have a card in your digibox? As you say, I think your dish will be too small for Astra 2D, but Channel 4 and FIVE would require a card anyway. The rest (BBC/ITV variants) would be gettable with the right dish. BBC Prime would be easily available on a small dish pointed in the right direction if you had a cheap patched receiver (or paid the subscription). STICK
