Default Hello you wonderful people

Want to say hi etc etc.

My name is Giz (not real name of course) and I'm from South Wales (Boyo).

I am new to all of this. Well just came back to it. I used to be on ATV satellite (does anybody remember the Pace prd 900 receiver?). I have just opened up the world of Digital Satellite cause I am one of those sad people who have a VW Camper etc and got sick of not receiving a Dterrestrial signal when I go away . So I bought a Satellite in a suitcase (please don't laugh ops. I know its corny but for the present it will do until I get more and more into it. I am please to say that I "used" to work for a well know cable company that was taken over by a well known person. But I'm going back to my old job with a Motor Factors so I'll have more time to join in and ask questions and hopefully in time answer some questions.

I feel at the present that my Satellite in a suitcase is the dogs dangleys as when I go away for a weekend you get they people hang off the edge of a caravan and I've actually seen people hanging of edges of cliffs' to get some sort of normal TV signal so I now feel quite superior to them .

The receiver I have is an "SL65/12" with an antiquated satellite compass finder (which really doesn't work). I've managed to find Astra and Hotbird and even Atlantic Bird with my cheap system. I immediately replace the supplied cable via a friend of a friend and that put my reception up quite alot.

Anyway enough of me. All I wanted to say was thank you for letting me join.

Giz

H igizouk.

Welcome to the forum. many of us "old hands" to the hobby are delighted that the new range of cheaper / more affordable kit available in places like B&Q or Lidl is introducing more folks to to that idea that theres stuff watchable out there away from using Sky digiboxes.

Sounds like you have got the hang of your receiver.

Hi! Welcome to the forum Giz.

Sounds like life is treating you well at the moment

No need to apologise for your SL65 here m8. It's a great mobile kit, and ideal for the old VW bus.

Look forward to chatting with you on the boards. Enjoy your viewing
