Default Software Sat Finder ?

Hi.

Do you know if there is such thing as a SOFTWARE sat finder ?
I know there are lots of `calculator types but I am looking for one that will tell me what sat I am pointing to.
So if I was pointing at 28.5 East - the software would show "ASTRA" etc etc ?

Thanks,

Oll

There may be, but I honestly don't know of one which just tells you which satellite you're on!

It's all a bit confusing really, but you can usually work it out from a combination of NID (Network ID), TID (Transponder ID) and then by viewing the actual channels found on that transponder, just to be sure.

Of course, you can just skip to the channel viewing bit if you like

I'm going to post some technical guff on this, for anyone who's interested in seeing how this all fits together. I'll come back and post a link on this thread in case you want to have a look.

You dont really need one - with a bit of experience you soon get to know which channels are on which satellite when twiddling the dish around
